Confidence+
A student-to-student programme to enhance employability.
Bridging the gap between university graduates and employers has never become so easy. Confidence+ is a student-to-student facilitated programme to help the next generation expand their suite of skills, gain exposure to the business world and build confidence in relation to their personal abilities and expectations of employment. The content can easily be tailored to any faculty of any university.
This programme can be delivered as a 12-week or 3 to 4-day programme subject to university timetables. It is split into 3 diverse yet relevant themes, each distributed one per day or over one set of 4 weeks:
1) Transferable Skills: Crucial transferable skills which will be developed are persuasion mediation, problem solving, networking, interpersonal and advanced writing skills.
2) Interview Skills: Necessities surrounding this such as taking on the role of interviewer and interviewee and understanding how an interview is conducted. Homing in on the ability to sell yourself and your experiences to the interviewer to stand out to employers.
3) Presentation Skills: this consists of students being able to deliver presentations on a given topic and develop interpersonal skills such as body language, projection and confidence when presenting on a subject. This also enhances public speaking skills and develops initiative thinking through questions being presented about the topic they have researched.
The Origin
How Did Confidence+ Develop?
The Founders Ellie Malek, Harpreet Kaur and Avielle Larbi are Third Year University of Worcester Law students who had secured internships at Milford Research and Consultancy Ltd as Research Assistants.
When discussing their future aspirations and possible pathways with the founder of the company, Dr Robert Milford, they all came to realize there was a gap in the education system and a lack of guidance as to understanding what employers look for in candidates. From there, Robert guided them into creating a programme to aid other university students to be equipped with adequate skills. He saw the passion the students had for increasing the accessibility of said knowledge and traits learnt from being in and apart of an authentic business environment.
This is achieved by the programme being founded and delivered to students-by-students ages 18-30. The content is focused on solving the real and relatable issues pupils find once stepping into the world of business once finished their studies.

Student Benefits
Aside from the 3 key themes and array of skills mentioned above, we recognize that one of the most significant gaps when it comes to students and individuals in education is the lack of practical experience applied to the theory. This is not widely available and/ or accessible for many people and we, as university students going into the world of work, understand this and want to be able to fill this gap.
We believe all individuals that complete Confidence+ should be honour for their development and achievements built through the programme. This event brings young aspiring professionals and a range of experienced business people such as CEOs and managers, together to put their new-found confidence to the test.
This concludes to direct access to employment opportunities ranging from potential mentors, work experiences to job vacancies from the companies which attend. In addition, the congratulatory certificate and Institute of Leadership student membership achieved through the completion of the programme showcases your determination and makes your CV and applications stand out via credentials.
To keep the programme running, we recruit fresh and passionate content Deliverers from the last pool of students educated through Confidence+ to teach the next cohort. The selected 3 students would be given a guide called the Delivers Handbook which informs on the key themes with the most up-to-do research and activities to follow.

College and University Benefits
Confidence+ has the potential to grow beyond helping just degree level students. It has already been shown an interest by collages and schools, with it being a flexible programme we can easily reformat it to fit the needs of the clients. Confidence + has also had so much exposure to professionals and other businesses through taking it to networking groups, business expeditions and to educational institutions, where people have showed a strong interest in getting involved.
The programme includes guest speakers who are professionals we have come across during our journey of creating the programme who have valuable knowledge to bring to the programme. In return for their expertise, their businesses are given exposure enabling them to network with potential future employees making an easier and more efficient recruitment process.
We have a cyclical funding structure for Confidence + where we look for sponsors, grant funding and other ways to raise money to cover the costs of the programme, events and awards. We ensure to invest all funding back into the cycle of the programme and for the preparation of the next cycle of Confidence + for the next generation of students waiting to take part. This is supported by the increasing interest into the programme we get from a range of institutions such as councils, schools, colleges, universities, and businesses.
